National newspaper fame
If the night out was a sign of the fun times that lay ahead, so were the first two tasks of our time in Uganda. We had an interview with a journalist from New Vision, a national newspaper, and then a meeting with Kampala Kids League – as the name suggests a youth organisation who were keen for us to work with them. As the first coaches from Arsenal to work there, word had spread and it soon became evident how passionate Ugandans were about the Premier League in general and Arsenal in particular.
Even after speaking to the journalist, we were still surprised when a few days later the article about us was published. We certainly didn’t anticipate this level of interest but it’s a useful insight into what we can expect during our stay here!
